We work towards pupils being able to collate their ideas, experimenting, inventing and creating - progressively recording their responses in sketchbooks.
We aim for pupils to master their understanding and application of key concepts of art and design (line, tone & value, texture, space, shape & form, and colour), using subject specific vocabulary to both analyse and evaluate when expressing their opinions and responses.
We aspire for the pupils to be able to respond artistically beyond the art and design curriculum to their wider environment and community through the breadth of the Religious Education, English, Science and Time & Place Curriculums.

MFL
MFL
’I pray that you……may have the power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ’. (Ephesians 3:18)
Modern Foreign Language (M.F.L) Curriculum Intent
Our M.F.L curriculum intends to ensure that each of our pupils are exposed to another language; recognising that language through familiarity, developing comprehension through learnt vocabulary and appreciating the context through an emerging cultural understanding. In being exposed to another language, we hope to support pupils in appreciating their own and others heritage, valuing how language brings individual and cultural identity.
We aim for pupils to be able to articulate foundational phrases and vocabulary, developing their pronunciation in recognition of the differences to their own language. In turn, they should begin to develop some understanding when hearing another language, responding appropriately, exchanging greetings and articulating an increasing range of vocabulary both in speech and in writing.
The breadth of the MFL curriculum means that we intend pupils to experience other languages beyond the classroom through music, drama and our enrichment programme, through which we hope to develop an attitude of openness to engage with other cultures.

Physical Education
Physical Education
’I pray that you……may have the power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ’. (Ephesians 3:18)
Physical Education Curriculum Intent
We intend our physical education curriculum to support the development of children’s physical and mental wellbeing, their individual development as well as their social and community development and economic development, (Gov. strategy Sept 2023).
We aim to provide a core of opportunities that allow pupils to become proficient in team sports but also develop competency in individual life skills.
Our curriculum aspires to develop pupils’ understanding of concepts which can be applied both to physical activity and beyond, for example the concepts of teamwork, health and competition.
The breadth of the physical education curriculum intends for all pupils, including pupils who are disadvantaged or S.E.N.D, to develop skill sets and knowledge in a range of physical activity, enabling them to access life affirming experiences both within and beyond the local community.

Religious Education
Religious Education
’I pray that you……may have the power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ’. (Ephesians 3:18)
Religious Education Curriculum Intent
Inspired by the school’s foundational text, our sequential programme of study for Religious Education is designed to be inclusive aiming to be a supportive framework from which the school can deliver a high quality curriculum for the pupils, ‘preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in modern Britain’.
The curriculum intends to provide the opportunity to study Christianity as a living and diverse faith, focused on the teaching of Jesus and the Church. However, there is a clear expectation within the programme, that as an inclusive church school community we will also provide ‘sequenced learning about a range of religions and world views fostering respect for others’.
We aim for the curriculum to engage and challenge pupils through an exploration of core concepts and questions. When studying a range of religions and worldviews they can expect to develop a rich vocabulary and knowledge, enabling them to participate in meaningful and informed dialogue.
It will allow pupils to have ‘a safe space to explore their own religious, spiritual and/or philosophical’ worldview ensuring that their inquisitive nature is nurtured. Opportunities are planned which aim to foster an understanding of self and others, including engagement in festivals from a range of different religions and worldviews.

Science
Science
’I pray that you……may have the power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ’. (Ephesians 3:18)
Through our science curriculum, we aim to enable all pupils to have an accurate understanding of the scientific concepts and ideas set out in the national curriculum.
We aspire to nurture pupils’ curiosity of the world, developing an attitude of scientific enquiry through learning how to conduct practical scientific experiments and investigations, acquiring new scientific vocabulary so that they are able to use subject specific vocabulary to explain their understanding.
We have a strong commitment to equal opportunities for our pupils. We recognise that for a significant proportion there is an experience gap, which hinders their understanding of the world. We therefore plan for our science curriculum to provide real life experiences and interactions with the science community supporting all to have a breadth and depth of scientific knowledge.
